Red Dog
Palisades Tahoe

About this zone
Red Dog is a dense, lower-mountain zone that skis bigger than it looks. Like its neighbor KT, it often keeps turning in storm cycles and draws a loyal crowd, but it can also fly under the radar when everyone migrates higher. Expect quality tree lines, a few surprisingly well-pitched rolls, and a fast groomed option when you want to reset between laps.
Best When
Red Dog is at its best during and right after colder storms, when the trees fill in and the sheltered lines keep snow soft longer than the open runs. It’s a good call if you want quick laps with plenty of options to duck into the woods and hunt for less-tracked pockets, especially when visibility is rough up high.
Watch Out For
This is lower elevation terrain, so it can end up below the snow line in warm storms and it doesn’t always hold up in spring. Once it gets skied in, expect chop and firmer patches to show quickly. There are also a few steeper, cliffy sections mixed in, so keep your speed in check in the trees and don’t follow tracks blindly.
