Sentinel Bowl
Kirkwood

About this zone
Sentinel Bowl sits just beyond Chair 6 and ramps things up immediately. A quick right turn off the lift puts you on the ridge, where the terrain turns tactical fast. The top holds a series of very technical, no-fall drop-ins for those who know exactly what they’re doing. Past that, the bowl opens into advanced-to-expert lines with real character: wider faces, natural avalanche paths, pockets of trees, and playful terrain features. Stay high and keep traversing and the crowds thin quickly, with plenty of options to pick your own entrance and rhythm.
Best When
This zone shines after storms and on cold, clear days when its north and northeast aspects preserve snow under Glove Rock. It’s a strong choice for skiers looking to move deliberately, explore, and get away from Chair 6 traffic without committing to long hikes. You can lap back to Chair 6 by staying skier’s right, or push farther and accept the longer loop via Tipper Creek for quieter snow.
Watch Out For
The ridge drop-ins are extremely technical and unforgiving; if you don’t already know them, don’t poke around. Visibility can be poor in flat light, and wind along the crest can strip or stiffen the snow quickly. Routes that drift too far left funnel you to Timber Creek, which adds time and logistics. This is serious terrain—route choice and snow conditions matter.
