Chair 6
Kirkwood

About this zone
One of the most skied zones on the mountain, and for good reason. Right off the Mountain Village base, this area stacks a ton of approachable terrain under two fast lifts. Solitude handles the intermediate laps and park access, while Cornice Express shoots you to the top with immediate blacks that are wide, fast, and confidence-building. It’s classic Kirkwood skiing: groomers when you want speed, soft bumps and trees when you don’t, and easy dips into gullies and playful features down low. It also serves as a gateway to bigger zones like Sentinel Bowl, Palisades Bowl, and Reuter Bowl, making it a natural hub.
Best When
This zone shines early in the day when crowds are light and the northeast-facing terrain holds snow well after storms. It’s a great first stop for advanced skiers warming up or easing into steeper terrain without committing to anything too technical. Groomed days are excellent for high-speed laps, and after fresh snow there’s plenty of room to poke into trees and softer pockets before it gets skied out. The base access makes it efficient for quick laps or regrouping mid-morning.
Watch Out For
Because it’s so accessible, this area gets busy fast. Expect chopped-up snow and firm patches once it’s been milked, especially on the main black runs. Visibility can be an issue near the top in flat light, and the wide trails can encourage speed, so traffic awareness matters. Gullies and side features are fun but can hide rocks early season, and lift lines can stack up during peak hours.
