Sherwood Cliffs
Alpine Meadows

About this zone
Sherwood Cliffs is a small zone that packs in a handful of steep, advanced lines. Up high, it’s all about short commitments through gullies and chutes with a technical feel, and the north-facing terrain often holds snow well when the rest of the mountain starts to change.
Best When
Right after storms is when Sherwood Cliffs makes the most sense. The higher elevation and north-facing aspect help keep the snow colder and less sun-affected, so it can stay soft longer than nearby terrain and reward quick, repeat laps when you’re hunting for preserved chalk and pockets.
Watch Out For
This is consequential terrain for its size. Rock walls and tight line choices mean you need to pick an entry you’re comfortable skiing all the way through, and the traverse can punish lapses in attention. When it’s firm, the fall potential goes up fast and it skis like a true expert zone.
