About this zone

Gentian Gully is a quiet, off-to-the-side zone that feels like it’s hiding in plain sight. It takes a short traverse that can look like a dead end if you haven’t been there before, but it drops you into sheltered, NW-facing snow that tends to stay less tracked than the main flow. The skiing is a mix of trees and slightly more open lanes, all funneled naturally down toward the eastern parking area.

Best When

It’s at its best a day or two after a cold storm, when the NW aspect and sheltered shape keep the snow dry and soft while other nearby terrain gets worked over. It only really delivers if the snow level stayed low enough to keep the gully from getting wet, so it’s a good pick when you’re hunting preserved pockets rather than immediate post-storm chaos.

Watch Out For

Rocks and cliffs exist to the skier's left. Beware warm storms - the lower elevation can turn the normal powder shelter into a crust zone.
